NSAC Convention Workshop to Focus on Phenomena. Phenomena will be the focus of the Monday Workshop coordinated by the NSAC Service Clubs at the 2003 NSAC Convention in Millbrae, California. The Reverend Sandra Pfortmiller is the chairperson and is planning a phenomenal day. The Reverend Barbara Thurman and the Reverend Ann Gehman will offer a class on Spoon Bending. We will be presenting Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) and the spirit pictures that we are getting through Instrumental TransCommunications (ITC). We will also run an EVP experiment with the group and report any EVP received at the end of the day’s workshop.

At the time of this writing other classes on Trance and Automatic Writing were in the planning stage. We will update you next month as presentations are confirmed. It is going to be a great day of classes so plan to attend. Although silverware will be available, additional pieces would be appreciated. Also bring a tape recorder and set of headphones if you would like to try to record your own EVP.

Telekinesis or Psychokinesis. Telekinesis or Psychokinesis (PK) refers to moving objects from one place to another without using physical contact. It also means re-shaping of objects using mental or psi energy. This can include such phenomena as bending a spoon or key by just holding and focusing your attention and intention on the object. It can occur spontaneously or deliberately, which indicates it is both an unconscious and conscious process.

The Reverend Barbara Thurman, Pastor of the San Francisco Spiritualist Society has conducted classes over the years on Spoon Bending. Recently, she found the silverware that she had bent in these past classes and was amazed to find that some of the pieces were still bending. Several of the pieces had triple twists like the fork shown here.

Field Consciousness Effect. The Consciousness Research Laboratory directed by Dean Radin has studied “group mind” effects along with anomalous metal bending. The Laboratory has found that environmental fluctuations play a role in modulating mind-matter interactions, and that there appears to be a “field consciousness” effect when groups of people direct their focus on a common object. www.psiresearch.org/research.html.

In an article titled, The Field Consciousness Effect: Psi, Gaia's Brain, and Beyond, ASN Joe explains that “field consciousness” is the parapsychologist’s term for the field of psi energy that is associated with a person. In another system of thought, this is the “morphic field.” This field was first detected when researchers secretly brought a Random Event Generator (REG) to a gathering of people and noted that the REG responded in much the same way as it did during psi experiments when a person was deliberately trying to affect the generator. According to Joe, “Thus, it seems that the minds of a group of people (or even the whole world) can possibly produce something like a resonating consciousness field, through which matter can be affected by the elicitation of an unconscious form of PK triggered by emotional expression and release. Influence of Consciousness on Microelectronic Systems. According to Richard Milton, “In December 1989, Dean Radin of Princeton's Psychology Department and Roger Nelson of the PEAR lab, published a paper on the meta-analysis of micro-PK experiments not, as might be expected, in a parapsychology journal but in the respected physics journal Foundations of Physics. Their paper was titled, ‘Evidence for consciousness-related anomalies in random physical systems.’ In their analysis, Radin and Nelson tracked down 152 reports describing 597 experimental studies and 235 control studies by 68 different investigators involving the influence of consciousness on microelectronic systems.

“Radin and Nelson’s article showed that the aggregate of all these trials dramatically provided powerful evidence for micro-PK. For they found that the odds against the overall result being the result of chance was 1 in 10³⁵. To understand how unlikely it is that this result was obtained by chance, it is like finding a lottery ticket in the street, finding that it is the winning ticket and you have won first prize of millions—and then continuing to find the winning lottery in the street every week for a thousand years.” From Alternative Science Website at www.alternativescience.com/psychokinesis.htm

Success: A Letter from Alexander MacRae to the AA-EVP. MacRae wrote, “It’s happened! We were right all along! About 11 a.m. on the morning of 03-03-03, EVP was recorded in a lab in California that was shielded from all electromagnetic radiation—such as radio waves or laser beams—AND ALSO—the lab was shielded against all acoustic waves—sound, infra-sound or ultrasonic waves!

“So there is no way known to science that the recorded EVP utterances—and there are plenty of them—could have gotten into the lab by any physical means. So don’t take any more guff about picking up stray radio broadcasts! You are working on the fringe—dealing with the non-physical—facing the unknown.

“But now we have to be even more careful, even more honest and even more conservative in our claims. The one thing that can set us back now and ruin all the hard work and investment that went into this, is for wild claims to be made, which when found to be untrue, will harm the reputation of us all.

“I'm not sure yet which utterance to pick for independent analysis—they all sound a bit ‘squashed.’ It could be, ‘Larry - having a swell time.’”

The New Work of the Scole Mediums. We highly recommend that you read the article about the work of Diana and Alan Bennett that is published in this issue of the Summit. The Bennetts were the mediums in the famous Scole Group that once sat in Great Britain. Now that the group has disbanded, the Bennetts have continued their pursuits of phenomena by experimenting with a new form of photographic ITC, which they were guided to explore by their friends in spirit
